Safer Internet Day - Tuesday 11th February 2020
Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people and inspire a national conversation.
Over the years, Safer Internet Day (SID) has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Starting as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project in 2004 and taken up by the Insafe network as one of its earliest actions in 2005, Safer Internet Day has grown beyond its traditional geographic zone and is now celebrated in approximately 150 countries worldwide.
From cyberbullying to social networking, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns.
Here at Fern House we understand the importance of being safe online. As a result we are holding our own Safer Internet Day on Friday 7th February. During this day pupils will learn the importance of their 'digital footprint' and how they can keep themselves safe.
Please ask pupils what they learnt on these days and share with them the importance of staying safe online.
